Title: | Foldable and editable electroluminescent lighting device | Authors: | Cheam, Nita Kaei Ji | Keywords: | Engineering::Materials | Issue Date: | 2020 | Publisher: | Nanyang Technological University | Abstract: | Alternating current electroluminescence devices (ACEL) have been around for many years. Despite the many advantages of ACEL over other lighting devices, there are limitations that require much more work. In this research, ethyl cellulose (EC) is used as the foldable substrate and silver nanowires (AgNW) as the foldable conductor with the electroluminescent layer consisting of water clear polyurethane (PU) and zinc sulphide (ZnS) powder. This research project focuses on enlarging or scalable ACEL devices, improving uniformity and reducing the voltage required. This project also demonstrated the device’s foldability and editability. By varying different factors which include (1) the ratio of phosphor powder in PU matrix (2) the thickness of the electroluminescent layer and (3) the presence of barium titanate (BaTiO3) in PU matrix. A foldable and editable ACEL device is demonstrated as a foldable box that is lighted up. Limitations of the device materials, as well as other possible further improvements on the device, are also discussed. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/138419 | Schools: | School of Materials Science and Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
