Comparison of the pronunciation features of primary school teachers and pupils : implication for pronunciation modelling

Abstract

The aim of this dissertation is to carry out an acoustic investigation of the vowel spectral patterns, vowel durations and timing patterns of Singaporean teachers and their pupils. Through the means of a questionnaire, I also elicited pupils’ attitudes towards SE and their teachers’ speech. By attempting both an acoustic and attitudinal study, I hope to propose a pronunciation model that is experimentally supported.
