Title: | Design and development of a claw machine | Authors: | Lee, Thomas | Keywords: | Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering | Issue Date: | 2020 | Publisher: | Nanyang Technological University | Project: | A3060-191 | Abstract: | Entertainment, a form of activity which captures the interest and attention of the audience giving delight and satisfaction as the action is carried out [1]. Entertainment plays a crucial aspect in a person’s daily life be it in terms of providing a form stress-relief and provides positive social well-being of the individual. In our digital age, where technologies revolve around us, the way we seek entertainment has digitalized to adapt to lifestyles. One such place where entertainment can be found are entertainment centres such as arcade centres which provides such services. In this project, a product which provides entertainment services to the public will be constructed. The product that will be constructed in this project is called a ‘Claw Machine’. The machine will be built with the focus of the machine, the claw. The entertainment factor in the claw machine lies in the ability to obtain prizes which can be awarded by navigating the analog stick and buttons which enables the user to take control of the claw. With proper estimation, the user must utilize one’s control of the claw to grab the prize and move it to the prize chute where it is dispensed to the user as the prize within a limited amount of time. The report will focus on the various components of the claw machine which includes how the product was constructed, the electronic software and hardware involved in operating such a machine. Electronic hardware includes the Arduino, which is programmed by the Arduino IDE software, the printed circuit board (PCB), stepper and servo motors of the machine. All the hardware plays a crucial part in ensuring the operation ability of the Claw Machine. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/138833 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
