Abstract: This research study stems from my observations that many upper secondary Literature-in-English students have difficulty in writing answers that address their essay questions relevantly. Informal discussions with teachers have revealed their general perceptions that this problem is due mainly to students’ weakness in language and their lack of motivation towards the subject.
