This technology is widely applied in different areas such as automotive, advertising, gaming, medical, and healthcare sector. The aim of this project is to develop a software-based real-time eye-tracking software that runs on a VR headset with an in-built eye tracker. The core idea of the implementation is to first analyze the video frames and apply image processing techniques to track the eye movement in real-time and predict the user’s point of gaze on-screen coordinate. An interactive control panel is used as a communication medium to interact with the user’s gazing point and translate the command into computer actions, such as cursor control. In the later part, a motor is introduced into the hardware integration to allow headset adjustment.
