Abstract: Sometimes we wish to convert digital images taken using our camera/handphone to a work of art, such as a cartoon. This is called Cartoonization. This project proposes to use basic image processing tools to obtain cartoonization. Extensions to similar artwork effect such as painting etc. may also be implemented if time allows.This project aims to develop such image processing algorithms based on MATLAB. The first part will emphasize on the development and modification of the MATLAB script and in corporate into a full MATLAB algorithm to achieve the desired outcome for an image.The second part will involve the integration of the AMTLAB algorithm into a friendly Graphic User Interface (GUI) which is able to produce the desired outcome.This report will document the objectives, scope processes and improvements made to achieve the results. A MATLAB program which can have the essential functions for an experiment which can generate the desired output will be designed at the end of this Final Year Project.
