Abstract: As a kind of high-tech, the mid far infrared quantum cascade laser has very important applications which cannot be replaced by other lasers, such as : High precision gas sensing field TDLAS, Biochemical agent detection, Remote detection -lidar, Product testing -Lasers and detectors, Air to air, air to ground search and tracking, range discovery -military space, Electro-optical countermeasures, and Air pollution monitoring. Quantum cascade lasers in laser spectroscopy -R & D, biochemical agent detection, remote detection -lidar, product testing -Lasers and detectors With the development of quantum cascade laser technology, more and more developed countries in Europe and America attach great importance to the application of photoelectric tracking and searching, photoelectric countermeasure and so on, and invest a lot of manpower and material resources to develop the application technology of mid far infrared quantum cascade laser.Inthis project, I study about the fabrication process of ridge waveguide QCLs and learn about the characterization about it
