Title: | Mobile application to locate position using celestial objects | Authors: | Lee, Jake Yi Jie | Keywords: | Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering | Issue Date: | 2020 | Publisher: | Nanyang Technological University | Project: | A2134-191 | Abstract: | In our current age the most widely used method to get one’s position or location is the use of the Global Positioning Systems also known as GPS. However, in the past before the use of GPS, travellers relied on celestial navigation also called astronavigation. It uses angular measurements between celestial bodies and the horizon, to navigate and determine their position. The aim of this project is to investigate the use of celestial bodies and the technology of the mobile phone to determine one’s position. A mobile application will be developed to process the image of the sky before analysing the image with a suitable algorithm to estimate the position of the user. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/140984 | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
