Title: | Design and build a clockwork mechanism as an actuator to drive a permanent magnet to manipulate magnetic digital microfluidics | Authors: | Muhammad Basyir Mustafa | Keywords: | Engineering::Mechanical engineering::Machine design and construction | Issue Date: | 2020 | Publisher: | Nanyang Technological University | Project: | A014 | Abstract: | This report accounts for the author’s experience and findings in designing and prototyping a clockwork mechanism to be used as an actuator for magnetic digital microfluidics. A permanent magnet will be attached to this 3D-printed prototype to control the movement of magnetic particles in the magnetic digital microfluidics. This mechanism works mechanically, thus it is suitable for use in areas where electricity and power supply are limited. This report will also discuss the different types of clockwork mechanisms, the processes involved in designing the prototype, testing of the prototype along with the calculations and results. Detailed drawings, discussion of the project and also conclusions will also be included in this report. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/141633 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
