Title: | A 3D printed model for Singapore Changi Airport runway-taxiway for air traffic simulation and visualisation | Authors: | Kuah, Jun You | Keywords: | Engineering::Mechanical engineering | Issue Date: | 2020 | Publisher: | Nanyang Technological University | Project: | A203 | Abstract: | Simulation and Visualization of air traffic have been gaining popularity as various countries are looking at ways to handle the increasing air traffic volume more efficiently. While much effort has gone into creating simulation software and developing more accurate aircraft tracking technologies, there is a lack of research in utilizing 3D models to aid in visualization. This paper will explore the use of CAD modelling to provide an alternative method for air traffic visualisation. Existing visualisation methods will be briefly covered, and possible integration with 3D modelling examined. The 3D modelling process will begin with a CAD drawing before resulting in the creation of a prototype model. Simulation will be conducted to determine the viability of the prototype. The paper will conclude with possible suggestions for the improvement of the 3D model. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/141787 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
