Title: | A study of Singapore pandemic | Authors: | Muhammad Hafiz Abdul Rahim | Keywords: | Engineering::Aeronautical engineering Business::General::History |
Issue Date: | 2020 | Publisher: | Nanyang Technological University | Abstract: | Singapore’s aviation industry is one of the many sectors that is contributing to the country economy. It is considered as one of the main driving force having been recognised as a global world class aviation service provider. (Transport and housing editor, 2016) Studies have shown that the number of incoming tourist and aeronautics-job related will greatly increase in 20 years’ time (Transport and housing editor, 2016). This growth not only brings benefit to the aviation sector, but also brings in more opportunity for the hotel and retail sectors. With that being said, the dependence of the country on the aviation sector could be affected greatly not only by facing strong competition from our neighboring countries but also due to some external factors such as safety and health issues. For example, the world was greatly shook by the terrorist attack on the USA in 11 September 2001, the Bali bombing on 12 October 2002 which then followed by the breakout of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2003 (Prithcard, 2002). These events have caused a significant shift to the tourism industry in Singapore. Singapore’s dependence on tourism and airline growth is considered a vital key to Singapore economy. Improving the quality is always a goal of Singapore but to face the challenges and uncertainty in a long run will determine its responsiveness and effectiveness. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/145467 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
