การกลายเป็นคาไวยากรณ์ของคาว่า “ยัง” = Grammaticalization of /jaŋ/

Abstract

บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพัฒนาการของคาว่า “ยัง” ตั้งแต่สมัยสุโขทัยต่อเนื่องมาจนถึงสมัยปัจจุบัน โดยใช้แนวคิดทฤษฎีเรื่องการกลายเป็นคาไวยากรณ์ (grammaticalization) มาช่วยในการวิเคราะห์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่าเส้นทางการกลายเป็นคาไวยากรณ์ของคาว่า “ยัง” มี 2 เส้นทางหลัก เส้นทางแรก เริ่มจากคาเนื้อหาอย่างคากริยา “ยัง” ที่หมายถึง ‘มีอยู่’ ได้พัฒนาไปเป็นคาไวยากรณ์ต่าง ๆ ได้แก่ คาช่วยกริยา คาเชื่อมอนุพากย์ และคากริยาการีต ส่วนอีกเส้นทางหนึ่ง เริ่มจากคาเนื้อหาเช่นกัน ได้แก่ คากริยา “ยัง” ที่หมายถึง ‘อยู่ ณ ที่ใดที่หนึ่ง’ โดยได้พัฒนาไปเป็นคาไวยากรณ์อย่างคาบุพบท ถึงแม้ว่าการกลายเป็นคาไวยากรณ์ของคาว่า “ยัง” จะแยกออกเป็น 2 เส้นทาง แต่ก็ยังถือว่ามีความเกี่ยวข้องสัมพันธ์กัน เนื่องจากคากริยาต้นกาเนิดของแต่ละเส้นทางมีความสัมพันธ์กันทางความหมาย คือ ต่างก็แสดงถึง ‘สภาพที่มีอยู่’. The article aims at investigating the development of the word /jaŋ/ from the Sukhothai period right up until the present time using the grammaticalization theory. It is found that the historical development of /jaŋ/ has two main pathways: (1) the lexical verb /jaŋ/ meaning ‘to exist’ as the original word, and then develop into three grammatical words which are the auxiliary, conjunction, and causative marker, and (2) The transition from the lexical verb /jaŋ/ meaning ‘to stay or to be in/at’ into the preposition. The two main pathways are related since the original verbs share the identical core meaning, i.e. ‘persistent state’.
