Tourism is a major contributor to Singapore’s economy and global image, with Sentosa being one of the country’s earliest attempts at building the industry. As Singapore places increasing focus on the translation industry, greater attention should be given to Singapore’s tourism translation, as it is a combination of both tourism and translation. This study seeks to understand the traits of tourism translation in Sentosa through the collection and analysis of online and offline English-Chinese Tourism Promotional Materials (ECTPMs) , using the Skopos Theory, as a theoretical basis. Research findings reveals that tourism translation in Sentosa largely fulfils the Skopos of the tourism translation, with the flexible usage of translation techniques, and the consideration of the target audience and the nature of the text as key observations. However, translation errors are still present in some of the texts, proving that there is still room for improvement in terms of the translation quality. This study hopes that a close examination of the tourism translation in Sentosa can provide a glimpse towards understanding Singapore’s tourism translation, and may instill greater interest in the issues pertaining to Singapore’s translation.
