Abstract: Digital Television (DTV) is perhaps 'the' TV of the future, and up to now has been taking Information and Communication Technology (ICT) related companies, especially broadcasting, in many countries by storm. DTV, unlike what many people think, does not only equate better sound and picture. It can also provide a whole set of new features and services unimaginable in the past including interactive multimedia services, Electronic Program Guide, Telephony, data services, and endless others. This means all of the different industries currently separated by product nature and law will could into one giant network. This is the concept of industry, technology and media convergence, and DTV is one of the platforms. While some developed countries have announced their adoption of DTV, this study explores and examines Indonesia's readiness to adopting and implementing DTV. The point of view taken is that of the industry. The study specifically looks into the areas of business, consumer and the law and the obstacles currently found in them that may hinder or influence Indonesia's adoption and implementation of DTV in the future.
