Abstract

Restart is a 18 minutes 53 seconds drama short film produced by Convoluted Films as a final-year project in the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) at Nanyang Technological University. The production team consists of undergraduates Tan Yong Lay Hayden, Lim Hui Yoong, Wong Si Jin (Victoria) and Soon Swee Huang Briana. Restart is a time travel film that revolves around the themes of dealing with regrets and accepting one’s fate in life. It tells the story of a young man who struggles to come to terms with the evitable demise of his mother and wishes to return to the past to rewrite the present. After meeting with a fateful car accident, he successfully travels back in time and is determined to not repeat his mistakes again. However, his attempt later proves to be futile as he is forced to face the reality of fate again. This report documents in detail the processes the team underwent to complete the project, from pre-production, to production and post-production. It also highlights the creative thought processes, challenges faced and their solutions.
