Final Year Project (FYP), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. https://hdl.handle.net/10356/147993 | Project: | SCSE20-0467 | Abstract: | As mobile games continues to see huge success, Augmented Reality (AR) mobile games are slowly beginning to gain traction. This paper seeks to elucidate the process of creating an immersive AR gaming experience and demonstrate the potential of incorporating AR technology in mobile games. This paper covers the existing cutting-edge AR technologies and the rationale behind utilising Vuforia as the AR toolkit for this project. The paper will also discuss the game design and implementation of ARtochess, an AR-powered single-player strategy game, which was built on top of Unity. Lastly, this paper will evaluate the system performance of the aforementioned AR toolkit, under different conditions, to understand its capabilities. While the development of the game proved successful, there are still features that could enhance the immersiveness of the game. The recommendations outlined in this paper include, but are not limited to, the integration of multiplayer gameplay, better gamification, and integration of future AR advancements. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/147993 | Schools: | School of Computer Science and Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
