dc.description.abstract | Mobile apps are rapidly growing in the current years and have become an essential and effective tool for humans. It offers various categories ranging from informative apps, entertainment such as game apps, educational tools, work-related apps, daily life apps such as monitoring our health or even booking medical appointments. At the same time, the world that we are living in is facing a serious problem. It is estimated that by the year 2040, our world will be polluted by plastic at an estimated 710 million tons. Thus, this study aims to create a mobile application to promote the public's environmental awareness regarding plastics and styrofoam. In this study, I will create an informative and interactive app, user-friendly, engaging, and, most importantly, a useful app for people from various age groups. Android Studio, Adobe XD, Firebase, DB Browser (SQLite) and VLC media player are the tools I used to create the mobile app, which I named 'Go Plastic Free 2'. There are six different main categories or areas of focus in this app which are 'Do you know?', 'Let's Save', 'Let's Be Creative', Watch and Learn', 'Checklist' and 'Quiz'. This excludes the snippets that I created, which can be seen once the user clicks on this mobile app via the emulator. The user will see the snippets before directed to this app's main page, showing the six main categories. 'Go Plastic Free 2' app is an informative app that is engaging to the users as it offers many details, creative ideas, and a short checklist to assess how conscious they are of the environment in terms of plastics. The more engaging and user-friendly an app is, it will attract more people to this app, which will help them be more environmentally friendly. This leads to us saving the world from having environmental issues and reduce the use of plastics. | en_US |
