Abstract: Organic Solar Cells (OSC) are currently attracting scientific and economic interest because it is an emergent photovoltaic technology for low-cost power production. Its main advantages lie within its flexibility, lightweight, and low cost. However, it has a lower power conversion efficiency (PCE) when compared to its inorganic counterpart, thus making it less reliable as a photovoltaic system. Therefore, in this project, the OSC's working principle and structure will be discussed, and simulations will be performed to challenge the OSC structure's limitations and to optimize it in the process. With the aid of simulation software, each layer's thickness of the OSC structure will become configurable, and simulations will be run to collect data from the configured structure. Collected data will then be analyzed to observe how each layer affects the overall PCE % of the structure. This project's end goal will be to optimize the OSC structure enabling it to obtain a higher PCE % to a reasonable extent.
