dc.description.abstract | Climate change is here, and the impacts are imminent. As the world continues to tackle this challenge, the maritime industry is picking up the pace towards greener shipping. Over the past two decades, the industry has gradually approached the issue in pursuit of a zero-emissions shipping environment. The industry has seen a rise in regulations combating GHG emissions and increasing developments of green technologies. However, are these regulations and developments effective? Furthermore, is every stakeholder in the industry open to these changes? This paper will discuss and evaluate the effectiveness of regulations and R&D related to decarbonisation in the maritime industry, taking into account the responses of stakeholders in the industry. It will also seek to analyse the feasibility of a complete decarbonisation of the industry within this century. | en_US |
