Abstract: Canoe/kayak sprint is an Olympic sport that involves racing on flat water. Races occur over fixed distances of 200m, 500m, or 1000m. Canoe/kayak sprint athletes compete to be the fastest paddler by performing dynamic movements with their entire body to generate maximal force over extended periods of time. In races where winning and losing are determined by fractions of a second, canoe/kayak sprint athletes are constantly looking for ways to maximise force production whilst reducing drag force.
