B219 : modelling the strength of high-entropy alloys. Final Year Project (FYP), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. https://hdl.handle.net/10356/150002 | Abstract: | Alloying is a common way in which favorable properties of different metals are conferred into one material. Presently, almost all possible combinations of elements in the periodic table to produce alloys have been explored and discovered using the conventional alloying method. Scientists have begun studying alternative methods of forming alloys in order to fulfil the manufacturing industry’s demands for stronger, more corrosion and temperature resistant materials. Thus, came about a new approach to designing alloys, where multiple principal elements would be used in equimolar concentration in its formation. Alloys that were designed using this approach were termed High-Entropy Alloys (HEA). HEAs are still a relatively new field, and this report will conduct a study on this subject, specifically on the Critical Resolved Shear Stress of several HEAs and the factors that may affect it. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/150002 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
