Abstract: In the current years, Power Electronics Transformers (PETs) have been on many researchers’ interest. The biggest impact that led to this interest, is due to the effect of climate change and global warming. These have made researchers all over the world pushing towards the advancement of renewable energy. As renewable energy is a natural source or processes that are constantly replenished, it is an energy saving source that helps to replace fossil fuels and prevent different types of pollution. As renewable energy has been the main topic, Microgrid/Smart Grid have also come into play into the grid-connected system which led to the grid integration of renewable energy. This is when PETs come into play, as conventional transformers have many disadvantages which can be eliminated by using the Power Electronic Transformers and still produce similar efficiency.
