Abstract: The goal of this project is to design and develop a Virtual Reality (VR) game environment for patients of Institute of Mental Health (IMH). Before they are released, they need to be evaluated as competent in certain skills which allow them to live independently in society. The game that I have developed, Morning Life Program would hence be used as an evaluation tool for patients of IMH. This game would zoom into what the patient would do if they were living alone in their own apartment, and the possible morning routines that follow up. In this report, I would go into detail about the effectiveness of VR as a tool in conducting psychological evaluation for mental health patients. I would also talk about the game design and the entire workflow of developing this VR game, including the limitations and challenges faced during the development process. As this project is about developing an interactive tool in VR, this project also dives into the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and user experience. User testing was conducted to determine the effectiveness and possible issues of VR and the game itself. The findings of the user testing would be addressed along with their feedback on the game. In conclusion, which will be the aim of this report, is to prove that VR can be a very effective tool for evaluation of mental health patients. The game that I have developed, Morning Life Program can be a useful for this purpose and has the potential to be developed further. I believe that more games like Morning Life Program can be developed upon to carry out such purposes.
