Abstract: TI-6Al-4V originally used in the aviation industry, has seen increasing demand after expanding its applications on various industries due to its superior strength and corrosion resistance. Currently the additive manufacturing (AM) process which is also known as 3D printing is being progressively adopted for producing TI-6Al-4V parts, primarily because of its ability to produce complex parts at a reduced cost. Electron Beam Melting (EBM) is the most common AM method used to produce TI-6Al-4V due to the vacuum conditions during the process. In this report, the effect of build height of a part on the microstructure and mechanical properties of TI-6Al-4V had been investigated. This will help in understanding the possible implications of increasing the height of a part which will aid in future developments of larger parts using EBM process.
