Abstract: Hydraulic conductivity of soil influences the rate of water flow into the soil, which plays an important role in the sustainability of human life as it affects irrigation and agriculture, as well as slope stabilities and flooding in the country. With climate change due to globalization and reduction of green areas due to urbanization, hydraulic conductivity becomes an increasingly significant property to measure. This project uses the double ring infiltrometer for field measurement in the Jurong Formation residual soils located in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), as well as laboratory experiments such as the falling-head permeability test, grain size distribution test and pressure plate test to determine the hydraulic conductivity of the soils. The experimental results obtained shows that hydraulic conductivity of residual soils in Nanyang Technological University were found to be in the order of 10-6 and 10-8 m/s. The experiment also concludes that the Jurong Formation residual soil are fine-grained soils.
