Formal education plays an integral part in supplying a skilled and competent workforce for the tourism industry. The development of the Singaporean tourism industry since the post-independence period has led to an increasing need for a larger workforce. This paper examines the provision of tourism education in Singapore. The relevance of current tourism education is discussed from the viewpoint of the educators, the industry and the national tourism organisation. Furthermore, the measures taken to ensure relevance are examined through interviews with educators, the industry and the national tourism organisation. Finally, specific suggestions for the future of tourism education in Singapore are proposed.||URI:||http://hdl.handle.net/10356/15060||Rights:||Nanyang Technological University||Fulltext Permission:||restricted||Fulltext Availability:||With Fulltext|
