Abstract: Miniature soft robots have much gained popularity over the years, especially those which are magnetically actuated. These robots have proven to have the potential to revolutionize many medical applications. One such medical application would be active targeted drug delivery. With their mobility and control, these robots can significantly increase delivery efficacy to the targeted disease area. However, there are still limitations in treatments such as combination therapy. Combination therapy is a treatment that utilizes more than one medication to treat a single disease. Combination therapy has been unable to adapt miniature soft robots in its treatments due to a critical limitation. This would be the robots’ inability to independently deliver multiple drugs with specific sequences and dosages to various locations. This project aims to tackle this limitation with a proposed design actuated by remote magnetic fields. The robot is designed to be able to house multi-type drugs with reprogrammable drug dispensing abilities. These abilities would be tuning the drug dispensing dosages, sequences and locations. The prototypes of the design were fabricated in order to assess their various functionalities, locomotive abilities and drug dispensing abilities. From preliminary experiments, the robot has proven to effectively carry out its designed functionalities while having them decoupled.
