The characteristics of the polarization splitter have been investigated by the finite element method. By tailoring the structure parameters on the performance of the splitter, the optimized parameters are obtained to analyze the birefringence, the coupling length, the normalized power transfer, and the extinction ratio. A comparison with other designs demonstrates the advantages of our polarization splitter, which can find potential applications in optical communication systems, optical fiber sensing, etc. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/151904 | ISSN: | 1559-128X | DOI: | 10.1364/AO.58.007892 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | © 2019 Optical Society of America.
