dc.description.abstractRecognising the high costs of expatriate failure, cross-cultural training has become increasingly essential in organisations. For cross-cultural training to be effective, an individual’s level of ability to adjust to target culture has to be determined through a cultural specific diagnostic tool. In this study, we integrated the development processes of cultural assimilator and situational judgment test to develop a high standard diagnostic tool for India specific cross cultural training. The process included a series of repeated validation by subject matter experts and novices, comparison of means and elimination of incidents. From the initial 71 incidents, we eventually obtained 15 incidents which are suitable for use in the diagnostic tool. The proposition is that since this tool has many elements of an SJT, adapting it into a selection tool is not improbable. The implications and limitations of this tool are also discussed.en_US
