Abstract: In this project, shape memory material (SMM) was used for printing by 3D printer to show shape memory effect (SME). With the additional dimension, time, to achieve 4D printing with two-way reversible process. The 4D printing sample is able to be printed into a permanent shape, and re-program it under specific temperature, the re-programmed sample is able to recover to its permanent shape by heating it up again. The 4D printing samples were used to show the application benefits of 4D printing on comfort fitting area. On top of that, the impact of shape memory material property due to different structure and physical changes have also been studied.
