dc.description.abstractIn this project, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the stereo vision system is designed and constructed to be applied for 3D point cloud analysis applications. The stereo vision system is a 3D vision platform which maps 2D images into 3D point clouds. The GUI is used for users to interact and control the stereo vision application. Common functionalities tools to control the display of the 3D point cloud is created for the users, such as, rotation, zoom, and background style. Additional features are introduced to allow users to extract useful information from the 3D point cloud. One example would be the calculation of distance between 2 points selected by the users on the 3D point cloud. The dimension of the 3D point cloud can also be calculated. A 2D sectioning feature is also introduced to provide additional method to extract information for the user. Finally, the GUI will be integrated with the hardware components, mainly the cameras. This final year project (FYP) report covers what has been accomplished and how it is achieved. The introduction, project outline, detailed description of the development of the GUI, recommendation for future work and conclusion will be included in this report.en_US
