dc.description.abstract | This final year project is aimed to synthesize end-functionalized polypropylene glycol with α-cylodextrin. The experiment started with synthesis of mono-functionalized α-cyclodextrin. Several problems occurred during synthesis and some approaches were attempted to figure out the solution. A lot of understandings and knowledge regarding materials, methods, conditions, and environments were gained during the process of the synthesis. After successfully getting the mono-amino α-cylodextrin derivative product, the next step of experiment was to react it with the high molecular weight polypropylene glycol to form PPG with α-cyclodextrin group at the end of the chain. The ability of cyclodextrins in forming inclusion complexes with various low molecular weight compounds can be used for further investigation such as block copolymers formation via inclusion interaction. | en_US |
