Title: My Zahir and Batin.
Authors: Siti Sarah Salim.
Keywords: DRNTU::Visual arts and music::Print media
Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: Inspired by the concepts of zahir and batin, body and spirit, a visual language is developed into a system of patterns for wearables as a celebration of the extraordinary history of Arabic scripts. Using English Jawi on both rectilinear and curvilinear scripts for my content, it echoes my research into zahir and batin and expresses the personal speaking to the universal with the hope of reaching a broader audience than the Islamic world. My patterns represent a new wave of Arabic scripts, thus bringing accessibility to the traditional Islamic art.
