Abstract: The horn antenna is widely used in modern communication systems, as it exhibits a great deal of advantages. However, there exists some limitations for certain applications requiring radiation pattern stability. This project aims at designing a horn antenna that can work during a wide frequency band and its half power beamwidth (HPBW) is nearly invariable. A double-ridged waveguide modified from the conventional one is designed to achieve the broadband operation. Corrugations are added on H-plane sidewalls to stabilize the HPBW. The contents of this dissertation consist of fundamental theories of antenna, literature review of modern horn antenna designs that are related to the project objectives, the project design process, simulation details and results. At the last, the summary and further work description are illustrated.
