He focused greatly on women issues, reflecting the gender dynamics and patriarchal system in his novels while criticizing the colonial, semi-feudal society. This thesis focuses on the 6 novels collected in Sorrowful Encounters 《悲其遇》, exploring the gender struggle of women in a patriarchal society through the perspective of women’s fate, objectification and misogyny.
