Authors: Loh, Hui Qi.

Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: A pre-designed system of building a shelter is to be developed so that temporary residential houses can be provided for a disaster zone in the shortest possible time. This project focused on the structural frame of the shelter and only deals with static gravitational load. Brisk Monster is hence developed which aims to house 6 adults for 1 to 2 years. Cold-formed light gauge steel is used for this shelter as it has the main advantage of a high strength to weight ratio. In order to verify the design of this system, a material test and connection test in the form of a tensile test and lap joint shear test is carried out respectively.
