Final Year Project (FYP), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. https://hdl.handle.net/10356/156361 | Abstract: | The purpose of this project is to aid in the chemical synthesis and characterization of conjugated polymers for organic electronics. A furan-based organic compound is chemically produced which provides the necessary properties to facilitate making a more environmentally sustainable product for the organic electronics industry. To ensure the process is effective, a thorough literature review on current methods used in organic electronics has been conducted. All compounds obtained are synthesized using Grignard reaction, esterification, Suzuki coupling reaction to obtain 4,4,9,9-tetrakis(4-octylphenyl)-4,9-dihydro-s-indaceno[1,2-b:5,6-b’]difuran-2,7-dicarbaldehyde (Compound 5). Furthermore, various efforts such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy are used to characterize and identify the compounds. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/156361 | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
