Abstract: In our present day, increasingly we witness the adoption and innovation automation system in commercial such as “Smart Factory” and at home which is commonly referred as “Smart Home”. It is largely due to the flexibility and meaningfulness of systems which assists users in maintaining and managing their infrastructure and utilities or other small miscellaneous tasks. Such system contributes conveniency greatly to those who have time and attention constraint and thus improving their quality of living. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that is crucial in the development of this project as it enables the devices to be controlled over the internet. This project mainly focuses on the development of the iBeacon, which is one of the components in IoT to create a more comprehensive automation system. The system will emphasis on utilities efficiency such as electricity and enhanced automation system without the need of sensors that requires physical changes such as motion sensor or infrared sensors while the system is to be controllable with a mobile phone application. The iBeacon uses the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices to broadcast and identify the nearby portable electronic devices. It has various function such as identifying the device’s physical location, triggering an event, etc. With the iBeacon technology, the aim of this project is to integrate iBeacon in “Smart Home” system to improve its efficiency and detection accuracy.
