The airport uses facial recognition as a form of security to verify identity with passport images. In addition, facial recognition system can also be used for attendance taking in organizations and institutions to keep track of the attendance of employees and students. Despite the fact that there is a surge of popularity in facial recognition systems, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) still relies on a manual way of taking lab attendance. This ineffective traditional method of manual attendance is mainly plagued by two problems: inefficiency and inaccuracy. To address the above issues, I propose developing a user-friendly web application system that uses facial recognition as a form of lab attendance taking system.
