Abstract: The recent availability of radars in highly integrated, single-chip packages has resulted in renewed interest in improving the processing of data from such radars. One proposed approach is to use deep learning to extract information from the raw output of the radar to compensate for shortfalls in the traditional mathematical models. This project focuses on extracting the raw unprocessed output from Texas Instruments’s (TI) IWR1843 mmWave radar sensor, which is only available over a high speed Low-Voltage Differential Signalling (LVDS) bus. A data capture module was developed with a Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC device, utilizing the Processing Logic to deserialize the raw data from a LVDS stream, then transfer to the Processing System for streaming off-board for further processing. A HTTP server running on the Processing System allows both the configuration of the radar, and streaming radar data to another machine connected over 1Gbps Ethernet.
