Abstract: The tension of the wire changes significantly due to its inaccuracy during the winding process of a traditional semi-automatic winding machine. A commercial automatic reel line winder has several issues regarding the design which resulted in a few key motivators for this project. The key motivators of redesigning the reel line winder include the setup’s practicality. In this project, she has carried out both fundamental study and practical application of different motors for the line winder, and the working principle of mechanisms and kinematics of the winding process. The automatic electric reel line winder is designed to achieve accurate cable routing and smooth winding. It encompasses the parameters including position accuracy, speed, ease of use, size, and cost of the winder. The design also allows the fitting of various spools of different sizes. The lines are nicely tensioned and evenly coiled, hence easy to use and is less costly than commercial automatic reel line winders sold in the market. Initially, the project involved setting up an automatic electric reel line winder used for winding a line on a spool or a reel with a rotatable handle. However, after much discussion with the external vendor, it is reviewed that incorporating a line on a spool or a reel with a rotatable hand is not practical. Automating the whole electrical line winder machine so that minimum human intervention is necessary while keeping the cost of the setup reasonable. The automatic electric reel line winder is designed to load any spool size for the application. This project aims to demonstrate the skills and knowledge that she has acquired in her studies.
