Abstract: The world needs more energy to sustain the demand of the rising population growth. Current consumption rates of traditional fossil fuels have resulted in damaging our climate due to the release of carbon dioxide and other harmful particles. We now look at potential alternative sources of energy that has the capability to replace traditional fossil fuels. There are now various sources clean energy such as solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, etc. These are the potential alternative sources of energy that can be used in the future to meet the demands of the population. However, the current efficiency of said clean energy is unable to meet the demand of the masses. In this report, we shall study the simulation models of energy plants and learn why frequency affects load. We will then focus on improving the performance of a power plant system that uses a Proportional Integral Device (PID) controller. The idea is to replace the traditional PID controller with a Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) or apply other control techniques available to compare the dynamic responses and stability.
