Abstract: Coupling efficiency between a waveguide and optical fiber may drop overtime due to various environmental factors, this is undesirable as it may affect accurate data collection. However manual realignment is tedious, imprecise and requires large amounts of time due to the submicron scale of both optical fiber and waveguide. Automatic alignment is then introduced as a solution to this, coupled with an algorithm which ensures the new coupling efficiency is similar to the old coupling efficiency. In this project, algorithms will be developed using ASS-08 control software, which will have a feedback control system, and test which algorithm will require the less amount of time to achieve a similar coupling efficiency after realignment.
