Controller design of a tidal system. Final Year Project (FYP), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. https://hdl.handle.net/10356/158003 | Abstract: | The increased use of fossil fuels over time to meet consumer needs has had a considerable impact on the overall climate change. Renewable energy sources, such as tidal turbines, are being deployed to help alleviate the impact. The purpose of this research is to conduct a literature evaluation of the tidal turbine system in order to obtain a better understanding of tidal energy in general and its numerous technologies. Various technologies for building a tidal turbine power system and a controller system to optimize overall system performance will be investigated in this study. The P&O MPPT controller algorithm will be used as the primary controller system in this project since it allows the system to produce more power which in turns improve the overall system performance. Additionally, MPPT controller using lookup table will be explored. Simulink, a MATLAB programming software that excels in providing graphical analysis of dynamic systems will be used for all simulations in this study. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/158003 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
