Design and development of a progressive web application for MSc freshmen orientation

Abstract

Transitioning to a new university or nation might be intimidating, but also inevitable for students. Students' academic progress is also tied to a smooth transition and integration. As a result, universities in Singapore are actively organizing and promoting freshmen orientation, outreaching activities, and induction programs. This can help students make an informed decision and leverage on the friendships and camaraderie made to enhance their educational experience.

To orientate postgraduate freshmen of Master of Science (MSc) into university and outreaching prospective students, there are numerous factors that should be considered.

These factors include: ● The effectiveness in outreaching prospective students ● The ease of connecting with seniors ● The ease of obtaining accurate information ● The ease of joining events and keeping track of their engagements

In this project, a progressive web application (PWA), Enlace, aims to provide incoming students information and resources for them to transit and enjoy their education journey here in NTU. Adding on, Enlace also targets prospective students, outreaching and sharing our unique NTU experience with not only our NTU students but also the public.
