Abstract: More Electrical Aircraft (MEA) systems are developed for vertical aircraft systems, which operates at higher frequency range of around 1kHz to 2kHz. Amongst the other factors, size is one of the prime factors for this application. Hence, its necessary to measure the current of electrical drive system at such high frequency range. Popular electrical transducers such as Rogowski Coil, Hall effect transducers and Iron-core current transformer (CT) are available in the commercial market. However, most of the sensors are not ideal for the operation. Rogowski coil is a promising sensor that has a wider bandwidth and does not saturate with high current. Rogowski coil has its own limitation such as requiring an additional circuit, an integrator, and being unable to measure DC current. The Rogowski coils that are commercially available, have limited bandwidth. Hence, an improved design of a Rogowski coil is required. Furthermore, PCB Rogowski coil is considered for this project due to its low cost and higher winding accuracy. In this project, the author is expected to design and develop a PCB Rogowski coil to measure current for power converter applications.
