Abstract: As society gradually moves into the Fourth Industrial Revolution, major disruptions in technology will have a profound impact on how we live, work, and relate to one another. Individuals will need to possess a wide range of new skills in their jobs and continue to develop their skills as they progress in their careers. To address these challenges, lifelong learning will need to be encouraged amongst working professionals, so they can continually develop their skills as they advance in their careers. However, it is often difficult for these individuals to access and utilize these learning materials effectively, as traditional systems of learning are not built to address the need for lifelong learning. Using both recommendation and gamification techniques, this project aims to build a mobile application that increases learner engagement, building upon a comprehensive platform that supports all aspects of online learning. Two main components comprise this online learning platform: a cross-platform mobile application and an admin website application. Utilizing React Native, the mobile application allows learners to browse and enroll in courses created by the school, participate in seasonal learning challenges, and get rewarded for their efforts. Meanwhile, the admin website application built using React enables administrators and professors to create courses, manage students as well as reward programmes.
