Title: Behaviour of reinforced concrete beam-column joint subjected to in-plane loading
Authors: Ong, Walter Sze Hao.

Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: This report focuses on interior beam-column joints and it looks into how strut-and-tie method of analysis was first proposed by Park, Paulay and Priestley (1978) to calculate the magnitude of horizontal shear forces a joint is able to resist from the single concrete strut and truss mechanism. The report explains how the method of analysis proposed by Hakuto, Park and Tanaka (2000) can be used to predict the horizontal shear force in an interior joint core. The predicted values using this method of analysis is compared to the values of the horizontal shear force predicted using the design code, the method of calculation proposed by the author’s partner and the actual experimental results. The report seeks to determine the accuracy of the prediction for horizontal shear force using the model proposed when compared to other models and offers suggestions to allow more accurate predictions.
