Abstract: In a society where women's clothes are considered dirty, Sandar hangs her skirt outside the house. A blunder that causes their fellow Burmese neighbours to criticize Sandar for her improper act and her parents for not teaching her right. Governed by traditions and rules that she does not agree with, Sandar seeks to escape. It's the only way. As tensions rise within the family, Sandar makes a bid for freedom from traditions that pin her down.
