Abstract: Since the introduction of Prefinished Prefabricated Volumetric Construction (PPVC), it has been recognised as the way to go for the construction industry and is considered by the Building Construction Authority (BCA) and industry players as a game-changing technology. The benefits that PPVC brings have resulted in a growing demand to adopt this emerging construction technology. However, due to PPVC being a relatively new technology, there are limited specific guidelines or design codes in relation to it. To obtain a productive installation and ensure the long-term robustness of PPVC building, the method of aligning PPVC modules and the structural health monitoring of PPVC connections are looked upon in this paper. Individual experiments were carried out for PPVC module alignment using a laser system and a new concept of a smart wire loop connector for structural health monitoring. A combined experiment for both the systems was also carried out to simulate the actual application of PPVC alignment and load monitoring of the connectors during installation. The results and analysis of the experiments will also be presented in this paper. Finally, the insights from this paper will discuss the feasibility of implementing the combined system of laser alignment and structural health monitoring of the connectors for actual PPVC buildings. This final year project will consist of two reports CT-02AB-1 and CT-02AB-2 with this paper being CT-02AB-2.
